Cobham began as two settlements: Street Cobham on the Portsmouth road and Church Cobham around St Andrew's Church, which is now a conservation area with fourteen listed buildings inside it. Cobham is a village of trees, and trees fill gutters. A run that is cleared every autumn keeps water off the fascia and the wall; one that is not ends up with a rotten fascia board, a dropped gutter and a damp patch inside.
