Roofers in Putney,From the River Up to the Heath.
Putney climbs from the Thames to Putney Heath, and the roofs climb with it: terraces near the river, the big Victorian houses on Putney Hill, and the estates of Roehampton behind. We look after all of it from the London line.
Roofing and Guttering in Putney, on the London Line.
In the 1840s Putney was still part village, part farmland. The railway and the bridge changed that, and most of what stands today went up in the decades that followed: streets of Victorian and Edwardian houses running back from the river and up the hill, with the large houses of Putney Hill, Grantham House, Ripon House and Dover House among them, at the top.
Roehampton, once an offshoot hamlet with its own parish from 1845, adds the other half of SW15: post-war estates, including the Alton estates that Wandsworth now lists among its conservation areas, and the Dover House Estate, a conservation area with an Article 4 direction attached. Slate and clay at the bottom of the hill, then, and a good deal of concrete tile and flat roofing at the top.
We cover all of SW15, from Putney Embankment to Putney Vale, on the London line 0208 087 4324. The mobile, 07377 633898, is answered around the clock.

Terraces Near the River and the Upper Richmond Road
Victorian houses with slate roofs, back additions and the shared valley between them. When the valley gutter blocks, both houses get the water.
Putney Hill and West Hill
Large Victorian and later houses, three storeys and more, with complicated roofs, several stacks and lead everywhere. Most of the work here is leadwork and stacks, not tiles.
The Dover House Estate
A conservation area with an Article 4 direction, which means some exterior works that would normally be permitted development need planning permission. Repairs stay like for like.
Roehampton
Post-war estates with flat roofs and concrete tile, and the older village core, which is a conservation area of its own. Flat roof renewals and gutter runs make up most of the calls.

Runs blocked with leaves off the Heath and the Common, outlets and downpipes cleared through so the water goes where it should.

Slipped slates, cracked flashings and storm damage found from the roof and fixed in one visit.
Roof Repairs explainedConservation Areas, the River and the Practical Side.
Wandsworth has designated conservation areas across Putney and Roehampton, including Putney Embankment, which the council describes as unique in London, Putney Lower Common, the Dover House Estate and Roehampton Village. Several of these carry Article 4 directions that limit some exterior works which would otherwise be permitted development. In practice a repair in the same material is rarely a problem, and anything more than that is a check with the council first. We do that check before we price.
The hill matters too. Houses on Putney Hill and West Hill are tall, set back and often reached from a busy road, so the scaffold has to be planned and sometimes licensed. We look at that on the first visit and say what it will add to the job, rather than surprising you later.
Putney has a lot of flats in what were single houses. Where a roof covers several homes we deal with the managing agent or the freeholder as you prefer, and we write one report on the whole roof so the cost can be shared fairly.

Why Two Jobs in Putney Cost Different Things.
We give a written price for the work we have looked at. In Putney these are the things that move it.
The Height of the House
Putney Hill and West Hill are tall houses on busy roads, and a pavement scaffold has to be licensed. We plan and price that with you rather than adding it later.
What the Conservation Area Asks For
Putney Embankment, the Dover House Estate and Roehampton Village are conservation areas, some with Article 4 directions. Like for like is straightforward; anything more is a check with Wandsworth first, and the material it asks for sets the price.
The Size of a Flat Roof
On the Roehampton blocks and the rear additions the cost of a flat roof follows its area and its outlets. We measure and tell you whether a repair will hold before we quote a renewal.

All of SW15: the riverside, the town centre, East and West Putney, Putney Hill, Putney Heath, Roehampton and Putney Vale. Ring the London line on 0208 087 4324.
It is a conservation area with an Article 4 direction, so some exterior changes that are normally permitted development need permission. Repairs in the same material are straightforward. We check with Wandsworth before pricing anything beyond a repair.
The valley gutter that runs between two back additions is shared, hidden and easy to block. When it backs up, the water goes into both houses. Clearing it and checking the lead lining is a quick job that saves a large one.
Yes. Felt and GRP fibreglass on blocks, garages and extensions. We tell you honestly whether a repair or a full renewal makes more sense once we have seen it.
Yes. We price the scaffold or tower properly, plan the access with you and make sure any licence needed for a pavement scaffold is in place before we start.
Ring the mobile, 07377 633898, at any hour. Where it is safe to, we make the roof watertight first and talk about the permanent repair afterwards.
